Domaine de Lauroux is owned by Nicolas and Karen Kitchener, a British
couple who left their respective careers to pursue their dream of creating
quality, affordable wines in the Cotes de Gascogne Appellation d'Origine.
Since purchasing the vineyard in 2004, Nick and Karen have focussed on
maintaining the reputation Domaine de Lauroux has held for generations
- that of producing high-quality, award-winning wines, Floc de Gascogne
and Bas-Armagnac. Significant investment has been made to up-grade equipment
in the winery and to equip the vineyard with improved warehousing facilities
and IT and communications essential to work efficiently with a wide customer-base.
The domaine has extended its visitor facilities and offers a purpose-built
tasting room to encourage “at the door” sales.
The wines are now widely distributed across France, Belgium, Japan, Germany,
the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
PAJOT
(Domaine de) à Eauze (AB)
Liqueurs and Wines: Armagnac, Bas Armagnac,
Floc de Gascogne, Blanche d'Armagnac, Vin blanc des Pays de Gascogne.
Our domain is situated on the hills overlooking Eauze, a small town which
is the capital of Armagnac, the famous "eau-de vie" made in
the region of Gascogne.
Vines are our main production, but we also grow hazel trees. Both vegetable
produces are essential to us.
In the good old days, my grand-father used to work with a plough pulled
by a horse, then my father used a tractor and it was somewhat easier...
Thanks to their hard work, I can stay and live on the property, keep up
their passion and share it with you through our Armagnacs, our wines and
our apéritifs. I have been inspired by their common sense, that
is why I have chosen biological agriculture. Indeed biological wine-growing
is a choice which enables to combine durable investment, clean nature
and commitment to protect my customers’ health.
For me this concern is essential and very exciting even if it implies
more work So, I have gone back to the good old observation of natural
elements such as water, soil, climate, vine stocks and this determines
my way of working. Yet this is not written on our bottles ! That is why
a Website seems to be the most natural link between you and me in order
to let you know more about our products, our methods and our objectives.
